Partnership with City Year

WorldTeach is proud to announce its partnership with City Year so that their alumni can continue to make a positive difference in communities throughout the world. This partnership reflects the organizations’ commitments to the power of education and service to change lives worldwide.

City Year is an education-focused, nonprofit organization founded in 1988 that partners with public schools to provide full-time targeted intervention for students most at risk of dropping out.  In more than 20 communities across the United States and through two international affiliates, our teams of young AmeriCorps leaders support students by focusing on attendance, behavior, and course performance through in-class tutoring, mentoring, and after school programs that keep kids in school and on track to graduate.

The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success in the WorldTeach Program and serving a year with City Year greatly strengthens a candidate’s application and chances for being selected as a WorldTeach volunteer.

WorldTeach applicants who are under 24 years old and not accepted into a WorldTeach program, are strongly encouraged to apply to City Year to strengthen their WorldTeach application. Click here to learn more about being a City Year volunteer, and for City Year application information, please visit this site.

All City Year alumni and corps must go through the regular WorldTeach application process and meet admission requirements. All admissions decisions will be made final by WorldTeach’s admissions committee.
