Alumni Events

Alumni Get-Togethers
WorldTeach hosted our first get-together for all of our Boston-area alumni in October 2010. We encourage you to reach out to alumni in your area as well!

Group Liaisons
Since volunteers identify most closely with others from their departure group, we ask one person from each departure group to serve as a liaison for the entire group. At their end-of-service conference, each WorldTeach group elects a representative to keep their group connected to each other, and to WorldTeach.

The primary responsibilities of Group Liaisons are to:
. Stay in contact with the members of their volunteer group.
. Relay updated addresses, emails, and news to the WorldTeach office.
. Organize other activities such as creating a newsletter or organizing a reunion for the group.
. Keep in touch with the Alumni Coordinator at WorldTeach in case there are any special alumni events or special projects for which we need help!

If you are not a Group Liaison, stay connected to WorldTeach by contacting your Group Liaison and letting them know what you're up to! They are our link to your group. If you are interested in becoming a liaison for your group or if you want to get in touch with your group liaison, contact alumni@worldteach.org.

Recruiting

College/Recruitment Fair Representatives
Returned volunteers can volunteer as campus/recruitment fair representatives at either local colleges and universities or their alma maters. We need representatives to meet with people in Career Services and other appropriate centers to introduce the WT program and to place materials in the library and resource areas as well as to serve as a contact person for potential volunteers. Representatives may also hold informational evenings on campus, if they are willing. Occasionally we look for a local representative to go to a college or university career fair. These are usually during the day. Contact alumni@worldteach.org if you are willing to help. This job can be as large or as small as you would like to make it.

References
Being a WorldTeach reference simply means that you are willing to speak over the phone with potential candidates about your experience. With your permission we would give potential volunteers your email or phone number so that you can arrange to speak with them about the life of a WT volunteer. You may tell us the maximum number of persons you are willing to talk with.

Interviewers
We require that each of our year-long program applicants have an interview with a returned WorldTeach volunteer whenever possible. We will give the applicant your contact information in order to arrange a time for an interview at your convenience. We will send you interview guidelines and questions to prepare you for meeting the applicant. You can meet as many or as few interviewees per year as you would like - please let us know approximately how many times per year we may contact you by emailing alumni@worldteach.org.

Campus Outreach Manager
WorldTeach is seeking WorldTeach alumni with demonstrated leadership, communication and organizational skills to lead recruitment, outreach, and community-building initiatives on the university campuses where they live, study and work. Campus Outreach Managers serve as a bridge between their college or university and WorldTeach’s headquarters in Cambridge and spearhead WorldTeach expansion efforts by spreading the word about our mission in communities across the country that we would otherwise be unable to reach. You can download the application here.

Program Development

Mentorship Program
WorldTeach is currently searching for United States teachers on the ground as WorldTeach mentors. If you or someone you know is a science or math teacher and interested in supporting the WorldTeach community abroad, please send your resume and a letter of interest so that we can best match you with a volunteer. More information can be found here.

Airport Departure Meeting Leaders
Most of our volunteers travel with the group from a designated departure city in the U.S. Before they go, we hold a mandatory departure meeting to make sure everyone is together safely, and to discuss the adventure ahead of them. Your role at the departure meeting would be to gather the volunteers and have a meet-and-greet session before they go off at the gate. It is their last personal contact with the U.S. WorldTeach representatives before leaving, and we usually like a returned volunteer to do it so they can respond to any fears or emotions about their impending departure. We are especially looking for RWTVs living in LA, NYC, Miami, and Houston, where our group flights generally depart from.

Donate
Long after you've come home, you can continue to give back in a meaningful way to international education and international development by making a general donation to WorldTeach here. If you'd like to make a donation on behalf of a specific volunteer, please note the volunteer's name under the heading "Purpose" on your donation form. WorldTeach is a tax-exempt registered 501(c)3 organization, and thus all donations will be tax-deductible. Thank you for you generous support!
