Patagonia Sur Foundation's September Bulletin September 2011
Our volunteers continue to do an incredible job with their students in Palena and Futaleufú. In the September edition of Patagonia Sur's bulletin, check out the reusable bags that were created after a design competition between students from both towns. Be sure to also read about the environmental education activity that taught students at Valle California about reforestation and native forests.
English Olympics in Patagonia! July 2011
Wrapping up an excellent first semester, the Patagonia Sur Foundation recently hosted the fifth annual English Olympics. Fifteen elementary students from each school in Futaleufú and Palena competed for the famous trophy. Students were challenged with a number of activities which tested their writing, pronunciation, geography and listening skills, requiring students to use the knowledge they had acquired throughout the semester to complete each task!
At the end of the day, the team from Futaleufú was the winner by only two points! A very close contest!
WorldTeach volunteers Melanie Kurtz and Margaret Woodman-Russell prepared their students throughout the semester in after school workshops and practices. Congratulations to both teams for all of their hard work and dedication!
