Program Description
Volunteers will teach instrumental music through the world-famous Fundación del Estado para el Sistema Nacional de Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela (FESNOJIV) to students grades 1-12 in after-school music programs. They will also perform and hold masters classes in centers throughout the country. The program needs chamber musicians who will upon joining the program form into two string quartets, one brass quintet, one woodwind quintet, and two percussionists.

Length of Program
The program will last one year.
Cost of Program
The current program cost is $2500, subsidized by FESNOJIV and the Venezuelan Ministry of Culture. This includes pre-departure information and preparation, roundtrip international airfare from a US gateway city (eg. New York City; you will be responsible for transportation to this city and to the airport there), one month in-country orientation, health insurance, transportation to your area, meals (as noted above) and housing during orientation and teaching service, and 24-hour field support.

Requirements
The WorldTeach/Venezuela program is open to highly skilled classically-trained instrumentalists who have graduated from conservatories or schools of music and are interested in a meaningful volunteer experience working with talented high school musicians through the "El Sistema" program. Prior teaching or coaching experience is not required. Applicants with Spanish language skills are preferred; however
Spanish lessons will be provided in-country.
Successful volunteers will be mature and resourceful, and will exhibit commitment to public service and community participation. It is essential that volunteers be flexible and open-minded, capable of adapting to new situations, and able to provide sensitive leadership with various ages and groups. A positive attitude, even in frustrating or difficult circumstances, is vital.
