Welcome to Poland!

The WorldTeach Poland program offers you the unique opportunity to have an unforgettable summer experience of educational exchange and cultural immersion in communities that uphold hospitality as a core value.

As a volunteer, you will mainly teach high-school students at your placement site, though some middle-school and elementary-school students will also participate.  Volunteers will be responsible for teaching conversational English, basic grammar, and some lessons on American culture.  All volunteers will have internet access, and most will also have computer labs to use for instruction. Classes are open to the entire community, allowing students with a wide range of pre-existing English skills to participate.

The program will run from mid June to mid August.

"It is a chance to make a difference in a small community that treats you like a celebrity. Your knowledge and experience are truly valued.  And as you have an impact on the community, it changes you forever."

  Patricia Hicks, Poland Summer volunteer

In addition to their teaching responsibilities, volunteers are also encouraged to actively participate in community life and engage in additional activities or projects of interest.  Outside of the classroom, volunteers will have many opportunities to experience both traditional and modern Polish life.

Our program offers both rural and urban site placements, and a comprehensive system to closely match volunteers with their host family or teacher housing preferences.  Community celebrations and trips to major cultural sites in Poland supplement the program, particularly during the orientation, mid-service, and end-of-service conferences when the group convenes.

All volunteers must be fluent English speakers over the age of 18.  Undergraduate students are welcome.  Prior teaching experience is helpful but not required.  A general interest in education, cultural exchange, community participation and international development are expected, as is flexibility.
