Welcome to Namibia!

Approaching our twentieth year of service in Namibia, we at WorldTeach are proud of the consummate collaberation and partnership with the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Namibia, a partnership which has allowed us to send over five hundred volunteers to Namibia since its independence in 1990.

Volunteers in Namibia work as English, Mathematics, Science, and Computer Studies Subject Teachers in a wide range of institutions, including primary schools, secondary schools, and adult training facilities. In addition to their subject teaching, interested volunteers are also encouraged to serve as HIV/AIDS Resource Teachers.  Many teaching placements are in relatively remote areas.

In addition to the typical teacher placements, there is one special placement with the NaDEET Environmental Program. For further details, please read about our Special Placements.

The program departs in December (usually after the Christmas holiday). Volunteers are in-country for approximately 12 months and must adhere to the time commitment.

Volunteers in Namibia must be native English speakers with a Bachelor's degree in any subject and must be at least 18 years old and no older than 74 by the departure date. Successful volunteers will also demonstrate flexibility and a desire to teach in Namibia.

"My experience in

Namibia has been one that I will never forget.  Nothing is ever routine.  The only constant is that every day offers new surprises and challenges. As long as you have an open mind and an open heart, everything else falls into place."

Molly Moran, Namibia Year volunteer
