Welcome to Namibia!

WorldTeach volunteers in Namibia work as English, mathematics, science, and computer studies Subject Teachers in a wide range of schools, including primary schools, secondary schools, and adult training facilities. In addition to their subject teaching, interested volunteers are also encouraged to serve as HIV/AIDS Resource Teachers.  Many teaching placements are in relatively remote areas.

Some volunteers interested in working in administrative or project management positions can be placed with the Rössing Foundation on its Arandis Mathematics Project or Plato Computer Mathematics Project, or with the Ministry of Education on its Tech/Na! National Computer Deployment Project.  For further details, please download Special Placements.

The program departs in December (usually after the Christmas holiday).  Volunteers are in-country for approximately 12 months.

"My experience in Namibia has been one that I will never forget.  Nothing is ever routine.  The only constant is that every day offers new surprises and challenges. As long as you have an open mind and an open heart, everything else falls into place."

Molly Moran, Namibia Year volunteer

Program requirements include being a native English speaker with a Bachelor's degree (in any subject), flexibility, and a desire to teach in Namibia.
