Welcome to the Marshall Islands!

The Marshall Islands, located in eastern Micronesia, have hosted WorldTeach volunteers since 2002.  Volunteers live and teach in Majuro, the capital city; on Ebeye-Gugeegue, the other population center, which is an urban "bedroom community" for the nearby American military base of Kwajalein; or on the Outer Islands, which range from quite traditional islands without running water or electricity or much commerce, to islands with basic utilities at least somewhere on the island.  On the Outer Islands most volunteers teach at elementary schools although there are volunteers at several high schools.  On Ebeye-Gugeegue, volunteers teach at the new high school, and in Majuro, most teach at high schools though we place volunteers at all the elementary schools on the island.

The Marshall Islands program departs in July.  Volunteers teach for a full academic year and a 12-month commitment is required.

Volunteers must be native English speakers, have a Bachelor's degree (in any subject), and be committed to teaching and international development.  They will also demonstrate flexibility and a desire to live and teach in a remote location.
