Welcome to the Marshall Islands!

The Marshall Islands, located in eastern Micronesia, have hosted WorldTeach volunteers since 2002.  Volunteers live and teach in Majuro, the capital city; on Ebeye-Gugeegue, the other population center, which is an urban "bedroom community" for the nearby American military base of Kwajalein; and on the Outer Islands, which range from traditional islands without running water, electricity or much commerce, to islands with basic utilities. On the Outer Islands most volunteers teach at elementary schools. On Ebeye-Gugeegue, volunteers teach at the new high school, and in Majuro, most teach at high schools.

Marshall Islands volunteers depart in July.  The program runs for a full academic year and a 12-month commitment is required.

Volunteers must be native English speakers, have a Bachelor's degree (in any subject),and be between the ages of 18 and 74 by the departure date. Successful volunteers will be committed to teaching and international development. They must demonstrate flexibility and a desire to live and teach in a remote location.
