Welcome to Chile!

WorldTeach is fortunate to have three outstanding partner organizations in Chile and can therefore offer three distinct programs providing volunteers the opportunity to teach English either at primary/secondary public and semi-public schools (Chile Ministry), Chilean post-secondary institutes (Chile DuocUC) similar to community colleges in the US or at primary/secondary schools, along with adult evening courses (Chile Patagonia Sur).

Teaching and site placements vary by program from the large urban cities of Santiago, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, and Concepción to smaller cities and more rural placements located in Chile's Bío-Bío (VIII), Araucanía (IX), Los Lagos (X), Aisén (XI), and Los Ríos (XIV) Regions.  Please consider carefully which program would best match your background and interests!
Volunteers must be native English speakers and have a bachelor's degree. Successful volunteers will be flexible, mature, and have a genuine interest in both teaching and cross-cultural experiences. Teaching qualifications are not required, although prior experience will greatly strengthen your application to this competitive program.

There are three year long-programs: Chile DuocUC, departing early February; Chile Patagonia Sur, departing late February; and Chile Ministry, departing mid March.  All Chile programs finish by mid December.

WorldTeach also now offers a semester program to Chile, through the Ministry of Education. Teaching and site placements for the Chile Ministry Semester program are located in Chile's southern regions, Bío-Bío (VIII), Araucanía (IX) and Los Ríos (XIV). The Chile Ministry semester program departs mid July and finishes mid December. We invite you to read about this semester program on the program profile page, under Chile Semester.

The requirements for the Chile DuocUC, Chile Ministry and Patagonia Sur programs vary slightly.  A comparative summary of the programs, including the Ministry of Education semester program, is available below. Please visit the respective program profile pages in order to decide which one best matches your interests.
