Welcome to Chile!

For volunteers interested in committing six months to teaching abroad, WorldTeach now offers a semester program to Chile through the Ministry of Education. This program departs in mid July and finishes by mid December.Teaching and site placements for the Chile Ministry Semester program are located in Chile's southern Bío-Bío (VIII), Araucanía (IX) and Los Ríos (XIV) Regions.

Volunteers must be native English speakers and have a bachelor's degree. Successful volunteers will be flexible, mature, and have a genuine interest in both teaching and cross-cultural experiences. Teaching qualifications are not required, although prior experience will greatly strengthen your application to this competitive program.

WorldTeach also offers volunteers the option to participate in two different year-long programs: Chile DuocUC and Chile Ministry. These programs provide volunteers the opportunity to teach English either at primary/secondary public and semi-public schools (Chile Ministry) or at a Chilean post-secondary institute (Chile DuocUC) similar to a community college in the US. We invite you to read about the year-long programs on their program page under Chile Year.
A comparative summary of the Chile programs is available below. Please consider carefully which program would best match your background and interests!
